Kane Welch Kaplin, the self-titled new cd from the group made up of Kieran Kane, Kevin Welch, Fats Kaplin and Lucas Kane, peaked at #3 on the Americana chart. "We want people to finally understand that we're a band," says Kevin about the title, "not just three solo artists playing for the hell of it."

Kane Welch Kaplin, the group's third release, weaves a driving beat through the poetic lyricism of Kieran and Kevin's portraits of lost friends ("Last Lost Highway"), lonely hotel rooms ("Red Light Blinking") and determined rebirth ("Ain't Gonna Do It"). Fats and Lucas add a subtle beauty that brings emotion to the forefront. “I think the record sounds more austere and a little darker, maybe kind of reflective, looking back on things, life,” says Kieran.

Critics are raving about the Blue Rose Cafe cd, A Reunion and Tribute to Pat Long, featuring Kevin Welch. AnnMarie Harrington, of TakeCountryBack.com, says "The musicianship and harmony vocals from the entire band are nothing short of breathtaking." Read the entire review! Find out more, or order the CD at the Blue Rose Cafe website.

The two-DVD set of the Blue Rose Cafe reunion concert featuring Kevin Welch is still available at the BRC site, including not only the tribute concert, but also Kevin's opening solo set, a BRC slide show, and audio tracks of Pat Long singing. Perhaps the most unique part is footage of the band's rehearsal, when these old friends played together for the first time in nearly 30 years. Watching them work out harmonies and solos and discuss arrangements gives a new insight into how it all came together.
